Jejudo Island is a volcanic
island located in soutgwest of the Korean Peninsula. As Korea’s most southern region, Jejudo Island is sometimes referred to as “Samdado Island”,
meaning the “three many” because of its abundance of rocks, women, and wind. As a result, people who live this area are very concerned about geotourism. The possible effects of geotourism in Jeju island include profit creation of the island and advertising of the beauty of its nature.
One possible effect of geotourism in Jeju island is making profit in local economy. As mentioned above, Jeju island is famous for rocks and wind. In Springs and Summers, all around the rocky land is full of yellow rape flower. Refreshing wind puts the icing on the cake for tourists to walk along the coast of the island. The geotourism of Jeju pays an attention on this point. The "Olleh road", covered with yellow blossoms offers a great travel course and tour programs. On the road, there are beautiful cafes and restaurants so tourists could enjoy the wind and landscapes as well as local food. This leads to significant financial interest.
Another possivle effect of geotourism in Jeju island is advertising the exquisite beauty of Jeju's pollution-free nature. "Innisfree" is Korean own cosmetic brand which uses Jeju island's grass and flowers as ingredients. Therefore, in Jeju, Innisfree house is so popular that millions of Asian tourists visit each year. Especially Innisfree house concentrates to advertise the beautiful and pure nature of Jeju with various experiencing programs such as making a natural soap using natural ingredients growing only in Jeju land. This kind of tourism is effective in introducing the beauty of nature of Jeju Island.
